Italy does produce some of the best defenders in the world...Nesta in my opinion is better than Cannavaro...But both still play extremely well..Zambrotta is one if not the best left backs in the world...Grosso is also very solid..Materrazzi is a beast at Inter....But none of those players will ever reach Maldini's Status..One of the best defenders to ever play the game... It's a given..... i couldnot agree more Italian defenders are the best in the world and watch Chiellini in the Euro U-21 he is the next Nesta or Cannavaro when Italy was down to 10 men in Portugal game he was awesome he didnot let the portuguese shoot the ball or come near the net he is amazing Not only best defenders but best team. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9u4kuzsze... Well for me Nesta is best defender in world,and Maldini was,but Cannavaro is so over-rated...he don't deserve even to play for Italy...but Grosso and Materazzi are also great.
