Isn't it a joke that when the U.S. Men's soccer team plays in America most of the crowd is for the other team |
Tomorrow will be the Gold Cup final in CHICAGO, IL, which last I checked is in the USA. But you just know that 90% of the crowd will be pro-Mexico. If they love Mexico so much, they can always go back. I don't understand why you choose to risk your life to leave a country, but still root for them instead of your home country. It's cuz Americans don't give a crap about soccer, we have real sports played by real athletes here. I think the entire game of soccer is a joke. At least US sports crowds aren't trying to kill each other. american culture is really mixed. ive seen here that the ones that pay more attention to soccer r the hispanics. thats y there r always more fans of hispanic teams rather than whites 4 american team. most white people watch other sports. I think 90% is a bit excessive. Also, Chicago has a very high hispanic population. 26% of the population is hispanic and only 41% is white. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/demographic... It is not a joke. What is funny is how the U.S. does not invest a lot of money on soccer (the greatest sport in the world). Could it be that soccer was not invented in North America? Thus, most of the money goes to basketball, football, and baseball. This sense of false superiority echos your sense of false superiority. I am a basketball player and a soccer fan, and yes I do root for Mexico when the national team plays. But I do look at the reality, when Mexico's national team sucks I express my frustration just like I do the Lakers. If 90% of the crowd will be pro-Mexico, what does that say about the U.S. crowd? I guess they don't care about soccer. Just listen to sport-talk radio. As for rooting for Mexico, why not root for the team you, your parents, your grandparents and ancestors came from? Do you know where your ancestors came from? Do you root for that national team? In fact, I know quite a number of people born in these United States that root for teams like Brazil, Argentina, Germany, Spain, France, Italy, England, Cameroon, and list goes on. My dear friend, John L Yes I do live here, I pay my taxes, I earn money and work hard, but if I want to root for Mexico I will. This doesn't mean that I never root for the U.S. I root for Mexico, but it doesn't mean I am in agreement with the policies of the government that treats Indigenous people like sh*t, and the same with the U.S.: when I root for the U.S. basketball team it does not mean that I am in agreement with its government for obvious reasons. Since I am Native American, I feel I can root for any national team spanning from Canada down to Chile because there are Native Americans still ALIVE in all these nations. We have a strong connection to these lands without borders. False sense of Superiority: Just look at the "Manifest Destiny" doctrine, Jim Crow laws, slavery, sweatshops, etc. The assinine statement that Lorrain is refering to is just that, assinine. the dude above me says it all! 5 STARS!!! |
