How do i improve throwing arm strength?
I'm a center fielder, 15 years old, and my throwing arm strength needs to improve greatly. what are some good workouts and exercises to improve accuracy and velocity?
Keep throwing day after day, eventually it should build armstrength.
Steriods lol j/k
Long throws. That's about all I can think of. Lifting weights will just shorten your arm reach, so I don't reccomend that.
Long toss! I am also an outfielder and it's amazing how much a half hour a day of long toss can improve your arm.
push ups help the power
Long toss with friends for about 30 min, little weights but only go heavy weights during off season. and after your done throwing make sure you RUN its very important cause running will allow the blood to flow back in the arm.
to improve arm strength:
long toss, increase distance 5 to 10 feet each week
work out your arm muscles, forearms, biceps and triceps. don;t go for weight go for repertition
work on throwing the ball to the chest each and every time
I've been playing the outfield for seven years now and I'm 18 years old. I've starting in centerfield at my high school for three years on varsity and the best thing I'd do to strengthen my arm is to weight lift, long toss, and really stretch (which is often overlooked). Weight lift every other day and remember on bench and miltary press to NEVER go below 90 degrees. Baseball players don't want stiff shoulders and they therefore never go beyond 90 degrees. You really have to work hard at these weight sessions because they will get boring and repetitive after a while. Remember to increase your weight amount after every two weeks.
Improving accuracy comes with experience. If you keep playing outfield, you slowly begin to recognize the situations and know what to expect out of runners trying to advance on a hit. For an outfielder, try to aim a bit higher than the cutoff's (if you need to hit the cutoff) glove hand.
