Who's a greater coach--Phil Jackson, Gregg Popovich, or Larry Brown? |
Phil for winning 9 championships while working with big egos like Jordan, Rodman, Pippen, Shaq, and Kobe.....or Popovich for winning multiple titles (4 I think?) mostly with only 1 star player--Duncan--surrounded by extremely solid role players.....or Brown for winning a championship with both a college team and an NBA team? Phil Jackson. Jackson learned very early on, even before becoming a head coach, that players, and not coaches, win championships. He was able to meld massive egos- Pippen and Jordan in Chicago, O'Neal and Bryant in LA- into teams which used their skills to dominate. Popovich's Spurs have never really had the type of dominant seasons that Jackson's Bulls have had. Plus, the three rings Jackson got in LA came during this "alleged" San Antonio dynasty. Larry Brown as an NBA coach is not even worthy of this conversation. He probably won more with less talent, but has never shown any consistency anywhere in the NBA or college. I'll take Jackson got to vote for Phil! he is "the motivater", and 9 rings proves it, as for him having better players, lets say the players play better for him and become the names they are today jackson it has to be Phil Jackson. it's hard to win a championship even once. he's won it 9 times. regardless of who he had on his team, it was never a guarantee that his teams would win. so he has the biggest edge over the rest. Phil Jackson two diffrent teams. Pop tanked a whole season to draft Duncan to play with Robinson. Larry Brown is to self-destructive. popovich. brown jumps from job to job. jackson has won with big stars. |
