Boxing gloves ? |
i just joined a kick bxing class and i need to buy some gloves but theres 10 12 14 16 oz gloves and i dont know what is the difference i will be using these gloves for training wich includes hitting the bag and also sparring im 16 years old in good shape 5'7 170 pounds and also im going to be in tournaments but once i train for a while You don't say what kind of tournaments and a set of gloves for kickboxing are not good for sport karate tournaments if that is the kind of tournaments that you are referring to. Lighter gloves are usually used by the lighter weight classes so in kickboxing matches you would probably actually fight with a 10 oz glove but train with a 14 oz glove. The reason for this is it pads the hand better during the long hours of training and gives your training partners more protection when sparring and less chance of being knocked out which should not be your goal when sparring with training partners. In an actual match the goal is to dominate your opponent and inflict more damage on him and knock him out if possible. I spire with my students using a 14oz glove in kickboxing and use a point fighting glove for sport karate tournaments. I would buy a pair of 14oz gloves. Windy is a kickboxing brand, you can find their products on ringside.com 10 oz. gloves!!! |
