Who Will Win? Ronald "Winky" Wright Vs. Bernard Hopkins.... A Fight I'd Love To See!? |
can Yall give me yalls opinion? Im Goin For Winky! Dats My Favorite Boxer! You know, I was about to instantly answer and say "Winky"...but I realized the single, probably most important question I have never gotten an answer to about this fight. Does anyone know what weight they are fighting at? Winky, was "functioning" as a middleweight....and honestly I gave him the win against Jermain Taylor. But, if his knockout ability was slim against junior mids...its going to be non existent going any higher than middle weight. On the other hand...the easiest way to beat a fighter...is to wait until they have gone WAY out of their weight division and then have to come back down. Antonio Tarver used that to beat Roy Jones...and consequently was caught by that same method when he had to come back down from taping ROCKY BALBOA to fight Bernard Hopkins. So the question really is going to be about weight, truthfully. Bernard isnt going to come in to a fast pace..he doesnt have one anymore. He is very content to stand outside and pick Winky apart...which is likely the one thing he cant do. Winky's defense is too tight to be consistently hammered from the outside. But Bernard abandoned his inside fighting style years ago. But if Bernard has to bust his *** to make weight...he could be caught on the downside of a weight slide. Its a huge difference between 172 and 160. By contrast....Winky will have to go back to his old "clamming up" style and not the crowd pleasing style he has used as of late. NOTE: Cherokee...Winky is not young. He is only a few years younger than Bernard. This will likely be a skill fight, not a brawl. NOTE: Thanks Woody. IF THE CATCH WEIGHT is 170...Im giving it to Bernard. Its too much for Winky to handle. To answer your question, Kieran27, both fighters are fighting at a catch weight of 170 pounds. Who is going to win is really a tough call. I may give a slight edge to Hopkins, but I'm not highly confindent in that pick. I could easily see Wright getting caught up in trying to go toe-to-toe at certain moments in the fight, which may lead to opportunities for Hopkins to score big. It had 2 of the best pound for pound fighters in the business fighting for the title. I'm from Philly and I love Bernard Hopkins. Bernard fights for heart win, lose or draw. Winky Wright is the same type of fighter. So in my opinion I'm going with Bernard Hopkins w/ a KO in the 8 round. This is gonna be one of the greatest fights in boxing history. Well look at the de la hoya and trindad how b-hop decompose de la ho ya and hopkins tko him and what wink just outbox him to death...styles make fights enough said I'm going to say Hopkins. But I'm a fan of his...I like his style (tough as nails and gives it all he's got). this going to be the most boring fight EVER |
