New spin on the old Mike Tyson vs Muhammad Ali/Cassius Clay question?

What if Tyson were born in the 40's and had met Cus Di'Matto at a point where Cus' would have lived for several decades. As many say, Tyson was an all time great in the 80's. Would he have ditched Cus'? Would he have stayed and been focused by Cus'? And more importantly, with Cus' in a young Tyson's corner, could Cus' have guided Tyson to a victory if Frazier could beat Ali?

Ric in response to your question referring to Ali. He would've have met a completely different Ali then what some of the previous answerer's have referred to. Many remember the 70's Ali, who by that time had lost his speed of foot. Tyson would have fought Ali in the 1960's. That Ali would be too fast for Mike. Could you imagine the prefight smack Ali would be laying down on Tyson? Mike wouldn't be able think straight.
As I explained in my previous answer, Mike Tyson would have caused serious problems for the younger Clay/Ali. The bigger, stronger, smarter Ali would haved jabbed Tyson with enough authority to keep him off balance and at bay.
Ali was defensive, but did soak up hits to the head. Tyson has fast - power, in his hands. Could Ali defend a fast - powerful combo. Remember, Foreman was powerful, but had slower hands. I do not think any Heavyweight had hand speed and power combined as Tyson. He is fast and powerful. Could Ali be evasive, and if he was not, and got caught, what would happen? Most boxers with power, or were more heavy hitting than Mike, (if in existence) were slow, and clubbed at you. Or were big and fat. Tyson, in his prime was a FAST and HARD HITTER! Ali could bob and weave Foreman, but not Iron Mike.
i think he could im no you might say no way ali? but yeah tyson i think if hed stayed out of trouble and had diffrent cirumstace he could have been better i think he could have yes.
thanks

Using a different era and Cus still in his corner.

First fight a over confident Ali gets caught in the middle rounds by a quiet opponent with few words and a big punch. Second fight Ali learns from the first encounter and skates to a split decision victory.
While Tyson in his prime was quick, surprisingly defensive and had good movement, he never fought a mobile elusive fighter like Ali.

Tyson's defeat in Tokyo did prove that he was tough enough to absorb quite a bit of punishment, so a fight with Ali likely would have gone the distance. Of course...Ali wins.

A fight with Frazier is a different story. Tyson had more hand speed than Foreman. To boot, Big George was @ 220 lbs......same as Tyson. This would have been a you-pick'em fight. I would not count out Tyson due to the hand speed, mobility and power. Tyson landing a powershot on Frazier would have had the same effect that Foreman had. These guys are more evenly matched than most people suggest. Tyson has the slight edge.....hand speed and power.
if cus had lived or if tyson had kept rooney in his corner and never dealt with king or givens. if he was not a crack head. if he was not a rapist etc etc etc. please tyson was overratted that simple. he is not in same class as holyfield, holmes much less ali
