Whitaker vs Hatton? |
Who do u think would win Pernell whitaker or hatton in there primes? Hatton's biggest problem so far in his career has been facing Southpaws, Eamonn Macgee is the only fighter to put Hatton down and he was a lefty and the closest i have seen Hatton to getting beat was against Collazo and he was a lefty too, in "Sweet Pea" you have matched Hatton up against one of the best southpaws in history, i would like to say that Hatton would beat him because the defensive styles of fighters like Whittaker are the styles that are dragging modern boxing down but because of the problems i have seen Hatton have against leftys i would have to say Whittaker to win a UD. *sigh* All the hatton worship... No one matched up well against the slick lefty. And hatton's style would have made things even worse for him. Whittaker decision that would look like an other PW win over another nameless contender. Stylisitically, Whittaker was unbeatable at 135 for the simple reason that he had a bizarre combo of being an awkward and fast fighter with ubelievable balance and being a lefty. There was no way to prepare against that style. Whitaker would give him a boxing lesson. I go for Hatton. Pernell is way past his primes. Pernell on prime time I would go for Sweet Pea. Sweet Pea was very unorthodox when he fought. Hatton has a similar style to De La Hoya, don't get me wrong Hatton isn't as good as a boxer as Hoya but they got a similar stance and approach to each fight. In their primes at 140 I think Hatton has more power than Hoya. So with that being said if Sweet Pea and Hatton went at it at 140 and both in their primes I would have to give a slight edge to Hatton because of his power. If Hatton can get inside of Sweet Pea's stance and land some solid body shots Hatton will score a KO or a TKO. If Hatton lets Sweet Pea tag him with jabs all night Sweet Pea will walk away with a split-decision or maybe a majority decision. Either way its a good fight to watch, only if it could happen. the only flaw sweet pea really had was that he played with opponents alot, and not to many guys would be able to take on a lefty who was as fast as he was with decent power with tremendous defense. hatton wouldn't have a chance Whitakwer was fantastic against pressure fighters like Hatton, if he could give Chavez, Nelson, Ramirez, and Vasquez boxing lessons he would certainly do the same to Hatton. Whitaker by Wide UD. |
