Who would you say is the top 10 greatest punchers of all time? |
here is my list 1 Joe louis 2Archie Moore 3 Jack Dempsey 4Stanley Ketchell 5Rocky Marciano 6 Bob Fitzimmons 7Jimmy Wilde 8Lew Jenkins 9 Sonny Liston 10 Mike "Cookoo" Tyson heres my top 10 1: Jack Dempsey 2: Rocky Marciano 3: Joe Louis 4: Mike Tyson 5: Sonny Liston 6: Archie Moore 7: Evander Holyfield 8: Roberto Duran 9: Manny Paquino 10: Lew Jenkins thanks ~Cherokee74 as far as boxers go, i would agree, obviously there are better boxers, but out of these 10 guys, they're fairly in order that way. for my money, i've seen videos and watched it live, and no one, and i mean, no one, punched like tyson. At the top of their game, NOBODY was as lethal or devastating as "Iron" Mike Tyson. Insane as he became, his left jab was a work of art placed on a human fist. Are you forgetting Hearns on there, I think so. Guys like Wilfredo Gomez, Alexis Arguello, Julian Jackson, Gerald McClellan, Bob Foster, Michael Spinks, Roy Jones, Sugar Ray Robinson, Trinidad, Kostya Tszyu, Roberto Duran, Ike WIlliams, etc. all deserve some mention, with a few(Hearns, Robinson at least) needing to make the list. Good question! It depends on what you mean by 'puncher'? Do you mean a one punch KO artist, or someone that threw beautiful, hard, 3-4 punch combinations with power in both hands? Joe Louis was undoubtedly the best combination puncher, whereas guys like Foreman, Liston, Marciano, Dempsey, along with lesser boxers like Shavers and Cooney could end it with one blow. The greatest punch in boxing history of course was the short, body-twisting right that Marciano hit Walcott with. That punch travelled only about a foot, but was the result of what a perfectly leveraged punch can do. It scares me to look at that photo of Walcott's head after that punch. He looked less human than one of those special effects masks worn in a monster movie! You really have to put George Foreman on the list. By "punchers" I assume you mean most devastating power. And Foreman's power was amazing. The guy knocked down Joe friggin Frazier like seven times in their fight and beat the guy silly...and Frazier, before that fight, never went down! george foreman 76-5 (68), earnie shavers 74-14-1 (68), sam langford 200-47-46 (130), archie moore 185-28-11 (131), sugar ray robinson 173-19-6 (108), sandy saddler 144-16-2 (103), henry armstrong 149-21-10 (101), rocky marciano 49-0 (43), carlos zarate 66-4 (63), alfonso zamora 33-5 (32) |
