Was DLH vs Floyd fight "fixed"? |
Is it me or I also felt the fight seem not right at the end. Or the promotion did not lived up to its name? I do not think the fight was fixed. I do sometimes wonder if the judges take into consideration that Oscar is at the end of his career, and Floyd still has several fights left in him if he wants to continue. If you think about the future of boxing, which way would you 'lean'? The fight was scored pretty accurately if you just count the punches landed. There lies the problem! In the older days, fighters got much more credit for being the aggressor than they do now. And one power punch would pretty much count like 2 or 3 light punches. Fighters like Frazier or Duran would be ahead 1-0 at the start of the round because they are pressing the fight. A slick boxer would really have to land a LOT more to win the round. I think compu-box has hurt boxing in that way. I think that with MMA fights taking away a large chunk of the boxing audience - we need to return to giving much more credit to aggression and harder punches landed instead of just volumn. That is the only way to get our audience back. Plus it makes for a lot more exciting fights! Source(s): The promotion definitely didn't live up to it's name because Mayweather said he was going to kick Oscar's butt, and then he fought a boring, over-cautious fight. Larry Merchant said that the fight was supposed to be won by Floyd Mayweather jr. because of his fighting style. I thought the judges in this fight got it right, being that it was a split decision. It was more real than the Trinidad fight in which Oscar supposed to have won. It's just you. ur a joke |
