Dempsey V.S. Ali? |
who wins here if they were both to fight in there primes in 2007 here today who would win you got ali with his jumpy speed type of boxing and dempsey with hi sstrong great sided is this possibly the best fight we could possibly ask for who wins and how whats the outcome... your opinion...... Hit harder than Dempsey? Hank, I think you are too caught up in modern fighters! Dempsey once knocked out a horse with a 6" punch! He also knocked out a purse snatcher with one punch when he was 82 years old! That said, I think in a 3 fight set, Dempsey would KO Ali in the first one. Ali would learn from this and form a plan and win the next two by UD. Ali fought guys who hit alot harder than Dempsey. Ali is too quick for Dempsey. Even if Dempsey lands some shots on Ali he would probably have been hit with about 7 before he lands one. Ali by decision-unanimous decision. Ali. Easily. And I love Dempsey. I do not know a ton about boxing, but I did a research paper on Jack Dempsey. Jack was a hard hitter indeed, and won 60 boughts if I remember correctly. He also had 51 knockouts (I had to look that one up). By using simple math, that means that 9 of his wins were not by KO. But in Ali's prime he was much quicker than the Manassa Mauler, and I think he would've gave Dempsey the fight of his life. In the end I think Ali has the upperhand. I think Dempsey had the style to give Ali trouble. He probably would have fought Ali much as Frazier did, always coming foward with constant pressure on Ali. Remember Ali had trouble with Henry Cooper and those quick hard left-hooks he threw ( as well as Fraziers ), and Dempsey would have been throwing those lighting quick, bone crushing left-hooks, and a lot of them. But Dempsey had a knockout right hand to go with it.( Ali didnt like those hard well-timed left hooks ) But Dempsey, i feel , hit harder than Frazier and Cooper, was quicker, more agile , and had very quick feet and mobilty. Someone once said, about Dempsey, " he hurt everyone he hit, and he hit everyone he fought." Ali's hand speed was better and his ability to 'dance' and move, but Dempsey did have those quick feet and could cut off the ring and be on you in a second. Dempsey had great stamina as well, and didnt swell or cut easy. With Ali's speed and abilities it could win him a close decision. ( But then again, we all know Dempsey could hurt and KO anyone at anytime in a bout.) |
