Ken norton 42-7-1 (33) vs. ron lyle 43-7-1 (31)...pick em? |
Ken norton 42-7-1 (33) vs. ron lyle 43-7-1 (31)...pick em? I would go with Lyle. Norton was a great fighter coming forward. Like when he fought Ali. But when he had to fight going backwards, like with Forman, he didn't fair very well. I would say Lyle by KO in the 4th round. This would have been a close fight. Norton might get a decision finally. Don't count on it. This fight would probably be a draw. Norton was my favorite fighter, so I pick him. It definitely could go the other way because Norton did have some big problems with big punchers and Lyle could really swat! Norton. He had more skill. Lyle would fight to his opponent's strengths. When he fought Foreman he slugged it out and went toe to toe. When he fought Ali he tried outbox him. Lyle would try to box Norton. That would be a mistake. Norton by decision. Lyle by knockout. Norton's weird style played hell with the better boxers of the era(Ali, Holmes, Young) but the punchers walked right through him(Foreman, Shavers, Cooney). Lyle was in the latter category. DRAW!!! how the hell this fight never happend is beyond me don king. lyle would have prevailed in a slugfest. |
