What do you think about holyfield's performance after this fight ?

to be honest i wasn't expecting this performance from holyfied, i think he was good.. but i don't know about savarese, i've never seen him fight before except this one.. is he that good (38 KO) ? holyfield 29 i think

I dont think much of it. Savarese had retired before coming back for this fight. He`s almost as old as Holyfield.
Savarese has been around a while. He is the gentle giant, but, one or 2 punches from the guy can end your night. Ask Holyfield about the 3rd tonight. I just did.Seriously--I did. He asked if I thought that I could have taken those punches when I fought. I shook my head, and told him thats why I train fighters and serve as a web(boxing) analyst. Holyfield looked darned good. Combinations, footwork, jab, that vicious left hook in the 9th......He was pretty sharp, and, he still has a chin. He still comes back strong after being hit hard---its almost as if it wakes him. Good fight for Holyfield, good win---I wouldnt say that he's back just yet, but he is getting pretty close to the ol' Holyfield that we know and love. By the end of the year he'll be back if he stays the course.
ME. I am my source. I covered the fight for a web based company. I am also a former fighter, and, currently a trainer.
The blogbaba does not want to see a 44 year old Holyfield landing left hooks like the one that dropped Saverese in the 9th round. The right hand that shook Saverese in the 4th, and the subsequent flurry and body shots that caused the first knockdown can be excused, but the 9th round left hook was just too damned good to right off as a fluke. The worst possible out come would have been for Holyfield to look good, because that would mean he would eventually fight again against a younger more dangerous opponent, and that is exactly what happened.

Holyfield managed to avoid some dangerous looking right hands and took some solid uppercuts without crumbling. Then won going away against an aging B rated fighter. Saverese at his best was possibly a fringe contender, and never seriously considered a heavyweight threat. At 41 he was almost as old as Evander, and never had the talent of Holyfield. He was outclassed and made to order for Evander.

It is the next Holyfield fight that worries me. Evander against a younger fighter with some speed will eat the right hands he narrowly slipped against Saverese, and the upper cuts that landed and rocked him will be followed by lefts and rights to finish the combinations Saverese didn't throw. If single shots from a 41 year old club fighter can stun or hurt Evander, a younger stronger guy is going to eventually get to the old man.

It is unfortunate for Evander that he looked as good as he did tonight. It will leed to further punishment in the fights down the road, and at some point the accumulative effects of all the wars he has been in will catch up to him. I don't want to see Evander in the condition some guys end up in after a lifetime of punishment in the ring, it would be too sad.

That being said, Holyfield did what he needed to do to win, and this fight will be used as a stepping stone to another fight with a fringe contender. After that we will see, for not enjoy that beautiful left hook nine rounds into a fight by a 44 year old hall of fame champion who is universally respected as an all time great. It did remind me of another left hook Evander threw about 15 years ago, and for a moment, I believed.
He was GREAT!!!
