Is UFC and MMA the best thing that has happened for boxing? |
Absolutely. The competition posed by the terrific athletes of Mixed Martial Arts, and the generally great fight cards that they produce, have forced boxing promoters to raise their game. No-one is going to fork out 50 bucks to watch mismatches anymore. The days of Tyson/McNeeley like events separating fans from their hard earned money are a thing of the past. A free market which spurns economic competition is always beneficial. Both sports have to raise the standards of the product they produce and their product is putting together fight cards that are competitive. Enough said. Definitely!!! I love UFC!!! There is soo much thrill in watching UFC fighters, its crazy because you know that they are gonna get down and dirty. You also know that someone will get knockout badly like when cro cop got knocked out by gonzaga or even my fav Chuck Liddell getting horribly knocked out by Quinton. Its a crazy sport and I like it better than boxing. Good point. I thought all the boxing fans were P'd Off, since MMA is taking over. But notice that the next Holyfield fight is only $30. Maybe it's forcing boxing reps to not be so f$#kin' greedy. The best thing? Probably not. But the competition in combat sports could give boxing a nice little boost. You had a good point until you decided to go with the "MMA fights are ALWAYS better" crap. Watch Gabriel Gonzaga vs. Kevin Jordan then go find a boxing match less intruiging than that. I don't think you can. If it wasn't for boxing, there wouldn't be a UFC. Most Definitely!!! Yeah...now boxing has more fans since MMA sucks. |
