Thoughts on James Toney? |
Thoughts on James Toney? Has a great chin and was a great middleweight. As a heavyweight he has failed several drug tests after fights. As with Aaron Pryor when you start doing idiotic things toward the end of your career it diminishes what you have done your whole career. My thoughts about James Toney are he is over weight, he still has a good chin but I think he definitely has boxing dementia. He should retire if he hasn't already. He probably boxed too long. James Toney is a 9 time title holder and one of the best of the modern era. He is still active but already has his own exhibit at the boxing hall of fame. An all around great fighter in the ring. The only knock on James through out his career was his tendency to be less than polite when he spoke in front of a camara. Still telling Don King to "kiss his @$$" after the MIchael Nunn fight was funny if not smart. A definate lock on hall of fame induction upon retirement. Popped on steriods. Has lost all my respect. Overrated fat guy who fought nobodies. Just happened to fight in a division early in his career vacated by the great Hagler and advanced by eating his way to a heavyweight title (I guess?) with one of the alphabet organizations. Toney could take punishment, but couldn't knock a sick hoar off a piss pot! Toney was great in the early and middle part of his career i don't think he should fight much longer he just seems to be on a downward spiral and he should get out of the game while its still a good time. he is starting to slur his speech more and more and all the steroid calamities are just tainting a once great fighters name. Toney was good in his day, I think Toney is about done. |
