Alexis arguello 82-8 (65) vs. julio cesar chavez 107-8-2 (86) @ junior lightweight...pick em? Good question sir! This would have been a marquee matchup of two great Latin fighters. They are pretty even in power, Chavez is the better body puncher and Arguello has the better jab. Both fighters have good chins. Arguello is the more patient fighter and always looks to counter his opponents mistakes and Chavez always looks to get inside to inflict heavy damage. This would be a fight of several momentum swings throughout with a late surge by Arguello earning him a split decision victory in a great fight. to me julio ceasar chavez is the greatest fighter of all time in any wieght class Chavez hands dow. Best boxer of his time without a doubt. Well this matchup would definitely would have went the distance. Arguello starts slow, but his reach would keep Chavez off of him, and I personally think that with Chavez being an agressive fighter would get inside in the beginning but by the mid rounds Arguello would figure out Chavez and keep him at bay winning a SD. Amateur Middleweight Boxer and avid boxing fan. this would be a war but chavez chin would hold up and win by split decision. Match-up problem for Chavez. Arguello might be the best defensive offensive fighter ever! His elbow defense would nullify Chavez' body attack, and his straight hard punches would break Chavez down. Arguello by KO in round 10 - bet on it! LOL |
