If Lennox Lewis had fought Holyfield without Emanuel Stewart as his trainer would Lewis still have won? |
How would Lewis' career have gone if he had not hired Stewart as his trainer? It seemed to me that before Stewart, Lewis was in a lot of back and forth wars in the ring. thoughts anyone? Emanuel Stewart makes a difference, and is a definite plus in the corner of any fighter. I spoke to Lennox shortly after the first Oliver McCall fight, and he understood exactly how important a good trainer was during the time frame just before he and Emanuel started working together. Lewis's defense definitely improved with Stewart, so Emanuel's impact was a factor, but in the end Lennox was in the ring not Emanuel. Currently Emanuel has done wonders with Vitali Klitschko and I belive Stewart is the reason Vitali got passed Peters and I give Emanuel credit for improving another already solid fighter with Lennox Lewis. The work Stewart did with Lewis certianly helped, and also played a role in the destruction of an aging Mike Tyson. Lewis was always good, but much better with Emanuel training him. Lewis's career stabilized, and the questionable chin became less of an issue under Emanuel, so Stewart gets credit in that respect, but I stop short of saying Stewart was the sole reason Lennox beat anyone. Lennox had a lot of talent long before Emanuel starting working with him, it was more like a jewler polishing a rough diamond to bring out its best. Emanuel did that with a lot of fighters, and is doing it again with Klitschko now. WHOOO??????? Yes, he would have still won even without Emanuel Stewart!!! Anyone that attacked Holyfield got counterpunched to death. The typical free-swinging brit style LL had before Stewart fixed him was made-to-order against Evander Holyfield. yes, lennox is a smart fighter he would have figured evander out plus holyfield only has one speed ..forward! |
