Why was Ali not the greatest of all time? |
Why was Ali not the greatest of all time? 3 reasons 1-sugar 2-ray 3-robinson I'm guessing since he lost 5 times its a matter of opinion to most boxing fans, to me personally, he was in the right place at the right time in american sports history, he has become an icon and an idol, he has lifted the sport of boxing to a level unlike any fighter before or after his time. he is without question the most recognized athlete on the planet, even people who never witnessed a boxing match, know the name of muhummad ali, if not for ali, fighters today could not demand the purses they receive today. larry holmes, riddick bowe, lennox lewis, roy jones, sugar ray leonard, thomas hearns, pernell whitaker, floyd mayweather all emulate his style in some shape, fashion, and form. when mentioning the greatest fighters in history the name ali will always be on the list, and rightfully so. people dispised ali for not being inducted in the draft, how soon we forget that the great jack dempsey was called a slacker for not being inducted in WWI and it was until his second fight with tunney, he became a fan favorite. To quote Joe Frazier: "Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee. I'm Joe Frazier, and I beat-up Muhammad Ali!" One of my favorite boxing quotes of all time. He was afraid to fight for his country.I don't have the least respect for him.Do you respect a man that want protect his family?Joe Louis and so many more, some not American served their Country with pride. They are true heroes and great men. |
