I'll take a wild guess and say Rocky Marciano. That was a sad day for all concerned. Marciano didn't want to fight Louis, but knew Louis needed the money. Then once in the ring, didn't want to hurt his hero. He said leter that he could have knocked him out much sooner, but just couldn't bring himself to do it. Rocky never boasted about anything in his life, I seriously doubt if he would have started there. A younger Joe Louis would have had at least a 50/50 shot at Marciano - possibly a UD or even a cut stoppage - but had zero chance in that one. Just like Marciano would have been a nightmare for Ali with his low crouching inside style, Ali would have been a nightmare style for Louis. Ali was trained by Angelo Dundee in Jersey Joe Walcott's style. Walcott should have gotten the decision against Louis in the first fight, and knocked him down good in the second. Louis could have lost to another slick boxer in Billy Conn, had Conn not gotten greedy at the end and tried for a KO. He got his KO alright - himself! Joe Louis was and is 'The Champ'. His unprecedented reign, and the way he conducted himself in and out of the ring made him the most beloved boxer in history - a true American Legend! All this modern day re-visionism and liberal media hype will NEVER destroy that!
