What mayweather Emeritus Champion?!? |
As previously reported, Floyd Mayweather has informed the WBC of his decision to keep the WBC welterweight title and relinquish the WBC super welterweight belt he won against Oscar de la Hoya. It was also announced that in recognition of Floyd鈥檚 career, the WBC is appointing him emeritus champion in the super welterweight division which "turns him into ambassador of the WBC for the concord and the peace into the world." Note: By selecting the welterweight division, Floyd could be in line for an eventual WBC-mandated showdown with interim titleholder Shane Mosley. I say mayweather fight hatton in nov then fight mosley in the spring of next year... I love it it will be much better than mayweather-de la hoya... this is the fight i wanted to see rather than with de la hoya They kept him champ because the WBC will make a fortune off his sanctioning fees for his next fight. Thats why Erik Morales is getting another title shot despite going 0-3 in his last 3 fights. Another shameless act by one the alphabet soup organizations to manipulate boxing in their favor.
