Floyd Mayweather Jr. Reliquishes Belt? |
He decided to keep the 147lb belt and reliquish the154lb belt. Note: By selecting the welterweight division, Floyd could be in line for an eventual WBC-mandated showdown with interim titleholder Shane Mosley. Will it finally happen? A fight with Mosley would be the only fight in which Mayweather could redeem his floundering reputation with fight fans. Fight fans believe that Mosley is the only one who could actually make Mayweather fight. A fight with Cotto would be even more of a pot-shot and run fest than with Oscar. No one wants to see that again. For starters, Shane Mosley is not the interim titleholder, since as you said, Floyd gave up the light-middle weight belt. Shane is now the #1 contender. And why would Floyd fight Mosley when he would make way more money fighting Ricky Hatton, Miguel Coto or a second fight with De La Hoya???? A Mosley / Floyd showdown is just wishfill thinking. If the money is there Floyd Jr. and Shane Mosley will fight. Count on it. I myself will be hoping that Hatton has already took the WBC Welter belt before the date for the mandatory against Mosley is made. Im not 100% sure how long Mayweather has got before he has to face his mandatory, i suppose that is completely up to the WBC but i hope he can still fit the Hatton fight in first. |
