I got a amateur fight coming up on August 16th and I am inquring should I try to lose weight and fight at welterweight or stay at Middleweight?
I am 27yrs old, 5ft 10in tall, and I weigh between 162-166lbs. My body fat is 13%. I am just inquring answers.
Yes you should. Do not fight at your walking around weight. you should be able to make 152. If you run three miles and train an hour and half five days a weak you should be able to cut wieght. You should lose five pounds per week. Two weeks before the fight eat lots of greens and fruit. Try to eat meat once a day but no more than twice. Only eat white meat. Stay away from dairy. Only drink water. sports drinks, sodas, and fruit juices are loaded with sugar. only eat until satisfied. Always eat breakfast. That meal gets the metabolism going. Try not to eat dinner after six o'clock. this gives your body a chance to breal the food down so you don't sleep on it. By skipping dinner you can usually sleep off a pound. Do not starve yourself.

I am 5f 11in and used to walk around at 165 and would make 141 to fight Try to go as low as you can while still retaining your strength and energy. Only you can decide how you feel at each weight. Cotto said he almost killed himself trying to stay at 140, and feels 10 x stronger at 147, while others seem to be able to float up and down almost at will.
