I asked this question before and I am asking it again! How did this happen? ESPN.com he posted: Baldomir has moved up to 154 pounds and will fight fellow former welterweight champ Vernon Forrest on July 28 (HBO). Originally, the fight was going to be a title eliminator. Now, it will be for the title Mayweather vacated. WHAT!! Well Carlos Baldomir did have a couple of impressive wins dominating Arturro Ghatti and beating Zab Judah but that wasn't at 154. He at least has fought Mayweather and some big names recently but he should have at least one fight in the division before getting a vacant title shot. Vernon Forrest hs barely fought at all and only squeaked out a close decision with Ike Quartey. Here is my solution the winner of Baldomir/Forrest fights the winner of this next weekend match up of undefeateds Travis Simms and Joachim Alcine. The winner will have earned the title in my opinion. I know its happening but I didnt know it was for the belt. Go Forrest!!!!!!!! Politics, that is how it happend. There should be no way in hell that this fight determines the next champ at 154, I would rather have the belt given to somebody like Spinks or Ouma before it is fought over by two guys who don't deserve it(Baldomir is closer in my opionion to deserving it than Forrest is though) |
