Why is Marciano the all time greatest HW champ besides being undefeated? |
Why is Marciano the all time greatest HW champ besides being undefeated? Spinks? Bowe? Klitsckho? Tyson? Oh my GOD I definitly think armeggedon is coming now!!!! I will respond that The Rock was is and will always be the greatest champion in heavyweight if not boxing history. He was class in and out of the ring. How can u beat that which cannot be beaten? Everyone points out how he fought an old Archie Moore. So I guess when Ali the demigod fought Moore a decade later it was a great victory! I can understand each persons opinion on Marciano and who they think would beat him, but please show respect for the man and dont even try to compare bums like Neon Leon, Iron Bite Tyson, Riddick '' Im insane and kidnape my family'' Bowe or any bum nowadays. Source(s): ex fighter and lover of the sweet science who said he was? Ali or Tyson He did beat Joe Louis. He's not: Jack Johnson, Jack Dempsey, Joe Louis, Muhammed Ali are the 4 most cited as the Best. Marciano may have been the most popular but best? Dempsey feels he would've stopped him. Ali would've shred him to ribbons. Holmes, Johnson, Louis in his prime probably would've beat him. He was best for his era, had an amazing career and should be seen as one of the greats...and respected. But no one can say who was the best. He was, however, the only undefeated heavy champ. That means something. I believe Joe Louis is the greatest Heavyweight Champ of all-time. Not only for his unprecedented reign, but as an ambassador to the sport. That said, I think Rocky would have beaten even when he was more prime. Here's why: 1. I think Joe Louis believed Rocky would have beaten him at any time. 2. Rocky Really didn't want to fight the aging Louis and said later that he probably could have had him out of there by the 2nd round if he had really tried. I believe that because Rocky never boasted about anything. 3. The last thing that goes is your power. Louis hit Rocky with his best punches and Rocky was never hurt. He was knocked down a couple of times in his career, but never close to hurt by great punchers like Walcott and Moore. The only ones I see as having a chance against the Rock would be: the older Ali might be able to get a decision. The younger Foreman might have enough power to actually hurt Rocky - but could he do it before getting hurt himself? Could Jack Dempsey 'out war' Rocky? Possible, but I doubt it. I do wish Rocky would have hung around 2-3 more years to KO Patterson (who probably would have stayed at Lt. Heavy forever instead of fighting him), Johannson, and Liston. Even then, I think some of these yahoos would think Ali would beat him! |
