How is Pele a rebel? |
how was he rebel in soccer? how did he go against the flow? By not claiming himself as the best player in the world, he always says it was George Best. Most other 'best' players are so smug they claim themselves as genuises lol he didnt. he was just good he didnt........ hes just one of the best players no he didnt go against the rules hes a fantastic player pele a rebel? he is the most pro-establishment player i've seen. Toward the end of his career he became involved in improving the conditions that soccer players had to play under. The common worker in Brazil had certain protections that soccer players did not have and Pele got these protection to apply to athletes. Also towards the end of his career at Santo he got into some very serious contract negotiations and he was critized for trying to bring Santos to the brink of backruptcy. The truth was that Santos made a lot of money for having Pele on the team and he felt that he should have the right to some of the fees that they got from playing exhibition matchs overseas. If he did not play the fee would be reduced. Often time he would be obligated to meet with heads of state and the like and because of that he requested that he be given a suite whenever they traveled. He was critized for this. He said "what should I do ask the president of France to step outside while my wife changes. Lastly another of his important accomplishments was to show that more black players should be allowed to play. Before 58 there was a sort of unwritten rule that limited that amount of black players that could start. This was often overcome by black players wearing white face which alway came off when they began to sweat. So about half way through the 58 WC the players,black and white, approached the coach and demanded that Pele start the next Match against USSR I believe. We all know what happened. Brazil won and teams began to use more black players. pele a rebel? he is the greatest pllayer of the world |
