Looking for remote camping in el dorado california? |
i am looking for somewhere with no people, campfires allowed, and a creek, river, or stream within walking distance google earth coordinates would be nice That's a pretty tall order because you want to avoid campgrounds and utilize "dispersed" camping, but fire restrictions have been in effect in El Dorado NF since June 18th making it illegal to have a charcoal or wood fire outside of official campground rings, though camp stoves are permitted everywhere with a campfire permit. I'd have to say your best bet would be to visit one of the free campgrounds in the forest, which have fewer camp sites and are farther away from the more scenic areas, though still beautiful in their own way. http://www.fs.fed.us/r5/eldorado/... http://www.fs.fed.us/r5/eldorado/recreat... http://www.fs.fed.us/r5/eldorado/documen... I've been to this one off 88, down a long winding road to the Consumnes River. It can be a little crowded at the bridge over the rock waterslide into a pool, but there's a whole river to explore: http://www.fs.fed.us/r5/eldorado/documen... I've been to these off HWY 88, down the road to Salt Springs Reservoir. All three campsites are along the bank of a creek and contain trout, while Salt Springs Reservoir is right up the road. http://www.fs.fed.us/r5/eldorado/documen... http://www.fs.fed.us/r5/eldorado/documen... http://www.fs.fed.us/r5/eldorado/documen... |
