What's the best thing to do with your food at night when camping to avoid bears?

Where should I put my food over night so that I don't attract bears?
Would a zip-lock freezer bag work? Thanks

.

Use bear bags. What you do is take a garbage bag and put everything you want kept safe in it. Then you tie a rope around the mouth so that it is shut. Take the other end of the rope and tie it to a rock and throw it above a tree limb. Now take the rock off and pull the bag up so that a bear cannot reach it. Once you have done all of that tie the other end of the rope to the tree so that the bag stays there.

Make sure that the bag is not to close to the trunk of the tree too. And also do this with your backpack because that will smell like food too after carrying it around.

A ziploc would probably not work, and I wouldn't want to test it.

And also, no cars, bears can smell though a car. Plus in most cases where you will be in bear territory you will not have a car.

Think of it this way, it is not a matter of "if" a bear will smell it, because they will. What matters is whether or not they can get to it.

Place it in a bag, take the bag and tie it on a tree limb high enough so the bear can't reach it.
Get some pllastic air tight containers and put your food ind zip lock bags first then put it into the containers. That should work. And dont keep the food where you sleep.Incase a bear does some how catch wind of it.
In Yosemite, we tied all the backpacks together and threw a rope over a high tree limb and hoisted the packs out of reach and in mid-air. KEEP ALL FOOD OUT OF A TENT. I woke up one night with a skunk munching on Fritos in the flashlight beam.
it is best to just lock it in the car at night,, if you cant do that, ziplock bags and tie it up in the trees.
yes , freezer bags are ok , then tie it up in a tree, high above your and far away, about 25 feet from tent.
place it in a tree,
