I want to know what I need to set up a top rope climbing spot.? |
I'm new to climbing so I don't know what I need nor how to do it. Could you please make a list of what I need to set up a top rope climbing place. The place has never been climbed before however it will be a great climb if I can get it set up. Please Help.... a guy I used to run into at the crags wrote a whole series of "how to" books that you should try to read if you really want to learn this, look for john longs climbing anchors, also how to climb. you can't learn enough about this, read up & then IMO you should seek out a class on this at a local gym. setting up anchors takes some knowledge if you wanna be safe, there are some things you need to know that you won't possibly get questioning on here. take the time to learn how to do this correctly cuz it will be somebodys life if you don't know how to do this safely. otherwise sounds like a blast.......read read read............... Source(s): http://www.amazon.com/how-climb-climbing... after over 30 something years, you see things that you wish you had not and wish you could forget, do your research I don't wanna ever see you crumpled up at the base of a climb someplace.................... You need a very solid anchor. If you are making one you should have at least 3 anchors. Remember that you can die if you do this incorrectly. I would try to find someone who knows what they are doing to help. Look for a book called ON ROPE it gets into directional anchors and angle loads all sorts of ways to rig up. Its actually more of a vertical cave book but it all sort of ties together. other than that you need a couple peices of webbing and a couple biners and a big tree or some chock stones. First of all you need to a body to make safe you and you need to set main safety station I advise if you are new on this you prefer to climb with someone who know it because safety station is too important and if you dont know it. that can cause of your die. You can start with sports climbing so you just use bolts it is safety and better for start my lessons and my leader tolds |
