Question about Beal Rock climbing rope? UIAA 1? CE0120?


i was curious what is marked on the end of this rope someone gave me UIAA 1 and CE0120 its a beal rope kinda greenish blue....Im trying to find out if this rope can be used for rapelling or if theres diff. ropes for diff things?....Thanks

Yes, you can rap with it. UIAA is the safety label from the International Mountaineering Association or whatever it is. The "1" means it is for single rope use (as opposed to double or twin). It is a dynamic (stretchy) climbing rope.

You need a stretchy rope for climbing, especially for leading, but for rappelling it's often done with static (low-stretch) rope. Source(s): My beal rope says the same thing.
