Hub and Wheel question!?

I want to purchase the Surly new model rear flip flop hub for 69.95.

I planned on reusing my current spokes and rim (27 and 1-1/4"). Are hub diameters all the same? Will this surly hub work with what I have?

I have the Surley hub. No, hub diameters are not all the same. It is likely that the Surley hub flange diameter and spacing are currently different than the hub your wheel is currently built with. I would agree that a new rim and spokes would be appropriate. 700C rims would be more current, but make sure that you have enough brake reach adjustment to use these wheels. (borrow some from a friend or the local shop and fit them up to see if they will work) I bought mine from Nashbar/Performance and I think they gave me the spoke lengths that I needed from their catalog.
I would seriously consider junking the 27X1.25 inch rims, if you have had them any amount of time they are probably wearker than they should be - and won't take a rebuild - look at other options - they could be life saving!
Like the other guy said. Especially don't reuse spokes as you'll get a weaker wheel. You should measure the rim with a special caliper before you rebuild to see how much life there is left. If the rim is worn too thin then it might fail while you are braking, and that always spoils your day.
