What areas of my body do I work out while riding a bike?

I want to buy a bike for exercise, but I was wondering if it would only work out my legs, I want to me working out my abs too, Is that possible?

You work out your quads, hams, calves, and your butt.

Some people also develop arm muscle, especially tricep when riding, depending on how the bike is fitted. With my particular bike, it's not the right size - I got it years ago, and am still growing. As a result, I have very strong forearms and massive triceps (which all the girls like).

But back to biking: it's mainly a quad/ham/calf/butt workout. You might think it'll give you abs, but it won't. However, you'll lose excess body fat if you bike regularly, giving the illusion that you have abs. I don't really have a strong core, but it appears I have a 6 pack, just because I have no stomach fat. Your legs will grow, but your abs won't. However, they'll be more exposed.

Happy biking!
Your legs and your bottom. But apparently for it to be effective
it is best not to sit down and you should also keep your buttocks tight).

I think that it works out the abdominal muscles a little bit but not much.
If you are leisure bike rider or novice trail or road biker, riding a bike will workout your legs--mostly your thighs and can develope your calves and butt muscles if you perform a lot of inclines, i.e. sustained hill climbs. As far as working out your abs, the most help you can get from a bike is burning those calories and toning your body. Clenching your abs and keeping your abs tight throughout your bike-run can help a little.

But, if you perform a lot of "twisting" motions while riding a bike, like performing midair stunts on BMX's or really rugged mountain biking--you can achieve a certain goal in working out your abs.
Just following up what others have said: biking is a great fat burning exercise, providing you do enough of it; 20-200 miles a week, and you eat healthily. I've been doing just this kind of biking for about six months, and it wasn't until I added jogging to the mix that I really started seeing the fat burn away from my waistline. So how much jogging should you do? I do about 30 minutes (4-6 miles, depending on my speed and the incline), two to three times a week, and bike 70 miles on Sunday, and maybe 20-40 additional during the week. I also swim a few laps after biking to cool my core a bit.
