Jarrod Saltalamacchia or Carlos Ruiz? |
whos the better fantasy back up? To tell the truth, I do not see the fantasy value being added to your team by even having a backup catcher. I believe setting my lineup with players that will play 150+ games for the year with the one best catcher I can get. The players that I keep extra would be a player that hits well enough to be used as the Utility slot, plus one player that has multiple position eligibilty (such as Blake, Freel, Upton). Use the extra slots for more relief pitcher like Heilman, Steve Shields or Heath Bell. They will get an occasion win or save and enough strikeouts to make the difference in the standings. Use these players especially when your starting pitchers are not playing that day. These extra pitchers will score for your team much more than a position player on the bench. As for Salty or Ruiz, neither hit well enough to be used for a Utility slot. But IF you have to have an extra (wasted) catcher, Salty is the man. ruiz. saltamacchia cant buy run support Definitely Saltalamacchia. Even though he is a going to start playing first base in Atlanta, he still has catcher eligibility in the fantasy game. This guy is a good young talent that has hit well in his small amount of playing time so far this season. I heard Eric Karabel from ESPN say that he expects him to have a better second half than Brian McCann who is one of the top fantasy catchers. Definitely get Saltalamacchia while you can. Totally agree with Seahawksblitz8...Salty is a MUCH better fantasy option! Chris C, why did you say that they don't get run support you idiot, they're catchers. I would take Saltalamacchia though. |
