Football interference? |
Is it an interference if you are a corner or something and the ball is thrown to a receiver and you tip it while it's still in the air? I never really tried it so I'm just wondering. Interference is when you hit the reciever before the ball has gotten to the receiver. If the ball is tipped at the line of scrimmage, you can plaster the WR cuz it's a live ball.... those are the fun ones! Tipping the ball is not interference. If you try to tackle the reciever after the ball has hit him (and bounced off or incomplete) and it's not an intentional late hit.... it's legal. No, when the ball is in the air the defender has as much a right to the ball as the receiver. Interference is when you make contact with a receiver or impede his progress in running a route. Interference means that you interfered with the player's ability to make a play on the ball, now if you played the ball before it got to the player it is not a penalty. tiping the ball wihile in the air is not interference. interference is when u takle the person before he has the ball, or before the ball even touches his hands. if the ball touches the players hand then u can takle him. there is a chance that he will drop it, if he just got the ball. but if u takle him before that, thats a pass interference. Did you touch the receiver? Even if you didn't the refs are stupid and might call it. (See this years AFCC. Face Guarding is no longer on the books, but they called it anyway.) All above are wrong. Interference is what the ref says it is. It is not reviewable, and if he calls it that is what it is. But, no, it should not be. No, it is not an interference. You can do that. And if you tackle someone w/o the ball, sometimes you can be called on "unnecissary roughness" or whatever. So be careful. Huge sports fan, especially football, and watch it ALL the time. |
