Does anyone on earth still find that watching F1 on TV is still considered entertaining? |
I like F1 and MotoGP racing, but after a few years of watching both shows, and after watching Valentino Rossi rules the MotoGP world with so much entertainment, now I always yawn with red eyes when watching F1 races. There's just too much boredom, less overtaking, and... no overtaking. Let's compare it with motorbike racing like MotoGP or even Superbike. Often, the fight for the top spot won't be decided until the last lap or corner of a last lap. Adrenaline pumping, and I don't switch channel during a MotoGP race. Ever. I mean for now, what the heck makes you watch the F1 GP worth two hours of your life? What's so entertaining about watching F1 races aside than its flashy cars and technological blah blah blah... For me, a race is a race, overtaking maneuvre is a must, and has to be many of 'em! While some may suggest F1 is boring, race-to-race, season-wise, I think last season, and this current season have been a lot more exciting. With Alonso taking the championship from Schumacher in his retirement year, and Hamilton boldly and yet honorably challenging for the championship in his rookie year, things are very exciting. Also, I'd suggest you hold on until next season. There are many changes for next season that will increase the excitement of F1. One change that will definitely bring excitement is the new 2008 ban on traction control systems from all F1 cars. We will see a lot more sliding, and the lack of TC will force drivers to depend more on their skill than on mechanical or electronic aids. If you watch GP2, where the cars have no traction control systems, you'll notice there is a lot more overtaking. Why would I want to wait for hours just to buy a ticket, and then watch it for two hours under the sun when I can watch it live at the comforts of my home? F1 is now more of a technical superiority force. There is lack of overtaking. It is more of strategy. One thing is dat In MOTOGP overtaking is possible in most tracks while bcoz of downforce and lack of width in the track make F! difficult to overtake. I do agree that the racing in F1 has taken a beating in the recent past, but it is still watchable. There is enough action lower down the order, interesting things like hitting a beaver or leaving the pits with the refuelling hose attached. F1 is also technology, the race and bitter competition exists between engineers in different teams. The racer put on track is the end product of this competition, the winning Ferrari is as much the engineer's baby as it is Kimi's or Felipe's. Try seeing the bigger picture, from the wind tunnel to the chequered flag. F1 is a bit of everything and I dont find those two hours unbearable. I guess 70 million others too feel the same way everytime. No it's not entertaining at all now! After Schumacher left, F1 has gone crappy! Especially with babies like Alonso there crying and moaning for every damn thing!! |
