Baja races? |
I'm 14 and restoring an old vw and I am wanting to run in the baja race's in a few years what do I need to get involved in, so I can race in the bajas in a few years. Take it from someone who ACTUALLY RACES OFF ROAD......... the first thing I'd do, were I in your shoes, is to find a race that is near to you. Go to that race and see how things are done. Watch how everything is done. Ask as many questions as you can, without being too much of a pest. I actually ended up volunteering to work the track the first off road race I went to, but I don't know if that would work for you and SCORE, you might have to belong to SCORE to help out. If you can, try to get a copy of their rules. That will tell you what you will need to put in your car to get you going. If you can get a chance to get a good look at the cars close-up, I'd do that. Look at everything from seats to steering wheels, to wheels, tires, shocks, EVERYTHING!! If you can swing it, take a camera with you, and get some shots of the suspension, interiors, everything you can. That will give you some refrence, should you actually build a car to race in Baja. Miotch, it's kinda hard to make your avatar look anything like you, when there aren't any options that fit your looks. Besides that, most of the pix on my site of me, were taken almost 10 years ago. I've changed a heck of a lot since then. Source(s): I know my site is outdated, but here's my site..... http://www.freewebs.com/jgrace1294... It's easy. Basically, you just sign up for the Score baja 1000 or similar event. You can do it online via the registration pdf form. Then, make sure your car meets all the specs and safety requirements for the class your going to run. Your car will be inspected and your good to go. Its a lot of work and prep, but a blast. And YES, I ACTUALLY DO RACE OFF ROAD. there is now way to explain all the details here but plenty of online tutorials on how to get started. Defineltly join the forums. First, you need to register. Second, you need to tune up your car to meet specifications. Third, you need to practice, win races, and gain sponsors (because you will want the extra money). Your advitar looks nothing like you john. SORE is the way to go kid. Learn to walk before you run. Class 11 all the way. John, we'll see you in 08' |
