Why do ricers insist on racing from a roll? |
i hate that crap, you race from a dig if your're going to do that at all. i don't mind roll racing for fun, but you must race from a dig first in order to compare the two cars accurately. before you answer, i think it's because their POS civics and whatnot have no torque. now lets here your thoughts on the matter, shall we? I think the whole rice tuner fad is silly. Why do some of these people literally spend enough to buy three cars on making their econobox hatchback into what they think is a hot rod that doesn't have the performance of a 30 year old Jaguar XJS with no modifications? That's performance? I think it's just the whole scene, not really the cars or drivers. I say a documentary wherein a guy hauled out his MIATA to go to war with some guy in a Civic. I laughed until I cried. thats exactly why , they dont have the torque to pull their cars off the line , and the front wheel drive cars tend to spin the tires when they up the power because they cant fit a large enough tire in the wheel wells to get traction B. lol mu hubby b**ches about this too. I say it's because they know if they don't, they won't win. They don't care about accurately comparing the cars, because more than likely theirs' doesn't stand a chance against yours'. The biggest reason is they have front wheel drive. When you launch from a dead stop your cars weight transfers back, this for a rear wheel drive car is great as it loads the rear tires, the opposite happens to a front wheel drive car, the front end unloads and the tires lose traction. The second point to this is related to the lack of torque. Some of the smarter racers know that going against a large v8 powered car, the v8 driver will probably be 2000 rpm low while doing a rolling start. A smart ricer will not think twice about running along in 1st gear right at the base of their power band. A good rice racer knows the best mph for their car and will try to set the mph for the rolling start. I've never had a problem with any rice driver wanting to go from a standing start that has rear wheel drive. But if they only want to do rolling starts play their game and you set the start speed to your advantage. I was not willing to change the gearing on my 5.4l supercrew (it kills them to get beat by a four door truck) so I added a 250hp nitrous shot that stays on till my boost gets to 3psi. no kidding, it is huge crap The problem is the people generally driving these w****ers chariots don't really understand the idea of a true race. (or the fact that bolting half a bath tub and filling a 1.2 nova with 10 times it worth in audio equipment etc actually SLOWS down their car) most of them tend to "race" down duel carrage ways and motorways if they can't see any police around, so 90% of the time there are already driving (somewhere or just around in circles they tend not too be too bothered) and think there cool for racing on the roads with the posibility of killing themselves or more likely other people.
