What is the best way for someone like me with no money to get into auto racing.? |
I would love to someday become a professional auto racer but have no idea how to start. I have very little money to actually build or purchase a race car of any sort. I do a little street racing but i know that won't help me as far as a career goes. Help!!! If you're serious, you'll buy a $300 or less car from auction or the grandma down the street. Gut the thing and start solo racing at $30-$60 a weekend. No one cares what you're first race car is as long as you're doing it. I've seen guys start out with hand-me-down Ford escort wagons and race them with total satisfaction. Start with the SCCA Autocross series. You can even do it in moms car. There you'll find out the rules and what other people have done. Gobbs of information at these events. But be careful, there are a lot of people full of crap out there. Check here for your local region, make a few phone calls to your local officials and get your butt out there. www.scca.org Don't bother with sponsors because you'll never get one until you're better, and there is no reason to build a $100,000 race car yet. So dream and do. All you need is a car and $30. Buy a ticket. Then they have to let you in! Get into go karts. You have to start with your own money. Good luck. get a job, A wise man once said "theres always something you gotta give up if you want everything you want." nah but seriously go looking for sponsered racers and tell them youd like to become an apprentice. Some one might give you a chance. Well see ya! depends on where you live. i might start a career for karting which is go karts but to race you need to pay like 2000 dollars...u need the money first...u do well...u win money I know how you feel. I was always a good motorcycle rider and auto driver but never could afford it. I didn't understand the sponsor end of it at the local level,so you might want to start there. If you can start at the bottom and get a junk yard or parts shop to lets say take care of your gas bill or maybe tires and then some one else for something else then you have a start. Work your way to the next class if your good and then go after the sponsors that support this group until you are at the top pro class you are trying to reach. Or save your money a buy a nice TV and it will be the best seat in the house. GOOD LUCK maybe u can get a sponsor to help u out |
