How do you get into go-karting...?

i have a go-kart and can drive in well... but where do i look for races and stuff... (i want to be a race car driver when i grw up... F1 or nascar

First off you would need a racing kart. They are a little different than the karts most people ride around the back yard with. Look into WKA (World Karting Association), IKF (International Karting Federation), or Endurancekarting.com. Endurancekarting is the best way to see if you're any good without spending tons of money.
I am pretty sure you unstrape the seat belt and slide into the kart. make sure you puckle back up, and just wait for the carnie to pull the cord.
they have tracks look em up in your area. here in phx we have an indor track called the f1 race factory the have resturant, pool, beer, f1 cars on display, and they setup events where normal people can race.
don't we all;

just go to your local track and ask about how to enter into races
Start here: www.ovka.com go to the FAQ (look on the left side of the page)

and here: www.ekartingnews.com

and here www.tsracing.com (has a directory of tracks so you can find one near you)

and here www.world-karting.com

After you've done some reading, go to your local track and watch some races. Tell anyone there that you're thinking about getting into karting. Usually that's all you have to say, karters are a great bunch who will help you a lot.

I assume you have a racing kart and not a play kart. If not, a decent used racing kart is going to cost you $2000-3000, plus another $500 or so for the required safety gear, and another couple hundred for some tools, a starter, and a kart stand.

Theres a couple things that are very important in kart racing:

1) Local support - find out what classes and what chassis are being run at your local track. There's lots of different ones out there and you want a local kart shop to be able to help you.

2) Don't buy off Ebay or similar sites. The classified section at ekartingnews is, I would say, a safe place to buy from.

If you have any more questions, email me & I'll help you all I can. Good luck and have fun!!
