NHRA: whats the usual reaction time when it hits green? |
Im talking about how on tv it shows how long it took for the drivers to hit the gas when green showed. Whats the most common reaction time among drivers (less than 0.219)? In the top Pro classes, reaction times for winning drivers are typically 0.100 or less. With the LED lighting system being used the last several years, 0.000 is a perfect light. These are very rare, and almost half of all perfect lights are in Pro Stock Bike, The hands are quicker than the feet. In the Pro classes, once both cars are staged. The Amber lights all flash at once for 0.400 seconds before the Green comes on. Rule of thumb, if you see Green you are late. they see green and it is about .1 they train a lot After you have stage the car when you see the three yellow lites light you hit the gas. if a perfect light is .000 I would want no more than .040 any more and you have a good chance to lose the race on a hole shot. I don't know the actual average but I would say its around the .04 to .05. In bracket racing (form of drag racing which utilizes a headstart system to equalize the cars) uses a full .500 tree which means each amber comes on individually and there is .500 of a second in between each bulb the reaction times get lower. I have a computer which counts the time down on the tree and launches the car,. If my reaction isn't a .oox, I roll in delay on the computer to get it. If you wait till you see green to hit the gas, you just lost the race. |
