Yes, as the answer above states. But the other way around. They would say 4 and 3 (not 3 and 4), as in 4 up with three holes to play, so the opponent can no longer win anyways and the match is over.
3 and 4 is a reference to the result in matchplay. What that means is for example:
Annika Sorenstam was 4 up on her opponent with 3 holes left. Therefore, that was the closure of the match due to the fact that Annika was 4 holes up and only 3 holes were left, the opponent's victory is now impossible.
it's a score in match play
ahead by 3 holes with 4 holes left to play
