Are there any golf courses with par 6 holes? |
looking for courses in britain but would be good to know about any worldwide Sorry I dont know any in Britain but right down the road from me in Virginia is a.....ready for this... the 841 yard par 6 #12 at Meadows Farms Golf Course!!! The longest hole in the United States according the the Guiness Book of World records. You can play just under 1/2 mile of golf on this one hole so you should bring your lunch. A good tee shot is required to allow you to get around the 90 degree dogleg right on your second shot. Your second shot will be over the first of two lakes on this hole. Watch for the huge bunker on the left. Third shot should be up to the second lake. Stay left in case you overshoot. If everything has gone well thus far you are faced with another shot over water to a large sloping green, very large clover-leaf bunker on the left front and large bunker on the right. (Did I forget to mention that the entire right side of this unending fairway is wooded?) You can expect a score between 5 and 12 on this one. Good luck! I doubt there are any par 6's in the world, but I know that the USGA would not sanction a course with a par 6. i doubt iit it would have to be a course in which you needed at least 3 shots before you could reach the green go to golfcollector.com interesting note on thai golf course with 2 par 6 The hole has to be over 690 yards for men and 575 for women. I do not recall any in the UK at present but I know there is a 878 yard par 6 at St Andrews Hill Golf Club at Rayong in Thialand which was played by the Asian Tour a couple of years ago.
