Water Hazard?

on the 1st hole of my course there is a lake which most of the time i cant get enough hight on the ball to get it over, can anybody tell me how to get more hight?

try using a higher lofted driver, say a 10.5 or even a twelve degree....i use a twelve, with today's balls and even if you have a fast swing speed, 100 to 120, you can still use a twelve degree driver....giving you a higher flight path....get one as a demo from your pro shop you do business with...then try it on your difficult first hole.
Wear heels!
try using a high angled club, if you 'driving' with a 1W you might not have the right angle (especially if playing up hill), try using a 3w, or failing that, play with a 7 iron to get the ball infront of the lake to allow for a follow up shot
With an iron, I personally play the ball about two balls up in my stance and try and brush the ground rather than trying to take some turf. Also I stand a bit farther away from the ball so the club can get under the ball and lift it up.
Myself
Place the ball closer to your front foot and hit the ball on the up swing.
put the ball closer to your left foot instead of in between your feet. it will definitely get you more height
