When I drive from the grass my distance is longer then when I drive form the tee. These are my questions....? |
A. Is it legal to drive with an iron on my opening drive without usuing a tee, and if not how can I improve my distance with a wood off the tee? Yes, you could drive with an iron. The pros do it all the time on the short par 3 holes, but they usually drive a tee deep into the ground to set the ball at the height they like to strike it at. You should be able to drive a lot farther with your woods. A lot players have difficulty driving with the 1 wood. So, I would first use your 3 wood and practice with that until you are very comfortable with it before moving to the 1 wood. You may want to try varying the height of your tee, so that the ball sits above the grass, but low enough to be in your power zone. I would recommend practicing at a golfing range to find your spot. Hopefully this helps you. Yes, you can use a iron off of the tee. Just throw the ball down and hit it. A. yes. you drive off the tee has backspin, that's why it does not roll as far as a ball hit off the grass, which has no backspin. pin poob No. the rules state you must use a driver on the first hole. YES..its perfectly legal to use an iron! Most of the time...people will tell you to tee it up though. There is a greater chance of you hitting it more solid when you do this. You may want to try to tee it up either a little higher or a little lower...just a thought! |
