Toskala going to Leafs? |
What do you think. Was it a good idea to send Bell and Toskala over to the leafs from SJ? I was pissed but that's my opinion. Come on guys you gotta look at the big picture. Doug W. already told the two goalies one of them would get traded. Okay so trading Bell and Tosk for three draft picks, bad? not necesarilly. True you could of got a good player with toskala and bell combined, however, you gotta look at the future. The Sharks went into the draft with no first round draft picks at all and came out with two a Ninth (trades for the 13 from tosk and bell) and a 28th overal. ALSO!!! they just cleared about 4 million dollars (i don't know the exact figures that's close) on there cap space trading tosk and bell. Think about it, they were able to resign Rivet for four years AND they will be able to pick up a TOP D-man on the UFA. Sheldon Souray rumored to get top 6.5 million this year. Guess what? The sharks just cleared enough in their cap (counting cap growth) to be able to sign Souray without ruining their core structure. I'm not saying Souray's coming to San Jose but i won't be surprised to see a top UFA Defence man signed by the sharks on the first of July. GO Sharks!!!!! If there lucky, the Leafs might just have a goaltender that can take them deep into the playoffs. and he's only 30 I kind of agree with you. As a leafs fan myself, I think Bell sucks but also think Toskala is a better goalie than Raycroft is. The reason I don't like it is how much they gave up for them. From the Sharks' perspective, yes. Toskala can be a number one goalie and competing for the spot with Nabakov is pointless. In return, you got three draft picks, including a first round. From the Leafs' perspective, hell, no.... Toskala is going to have to prove himself as a true number one now, not a 1-A like he was with Nabokov. It's a whole different situation for him now. I thought it was stupid for San Jose. They got rid of Toskala when his trade value was at an all-time low. They could have gotten a veteran d-man for him at the deadline last year, and could have possibly done the same in September. As for Bell, he has baggage and he was disappointing--they had to do something with him. Both teams still have question marks right now. Sharks fans need not be pissed, Leafs fans should be. To be as frank and straight to the point as possible, the Laffs suck. They will suck next season, and the way they're going, they will suck for many many more years to come. In the past few seasons, any half-a-hockey fan could've told you that the Leafs had absolutely no chance to win the Stanley Cup. CORRECTION: Any hockey fan NOT blinded by blue and white glasses could've told you the Laffs sucked. However, the Toronto fan base, media, and most importantly, the management refused to face the facts and rebuild the franchise. Instead, they resorted to continue the demolition of the team's bleak future trading away prospect after prospect, draft pick after draft pick, asset after asset just to keep some idiot fans happy for a few days. If the Laffs do nothing or god forbid, trade away their overpaid to-be UFAs, people start jumping off bridges in Toronto. Succumbing to the pressure of the dumb fans and media, the Laffs management have traded away Tukko Rask, Brenden Bell, and all their high draft picks of this year...all in the PAST YEAR when they MISSED THE PLAYOFFS. WHAT EXACTLY DID THEY MORTGAGE ALL THEIR FUTURE FOR ANYWAY??? Anyways, I thought this was a damn good trade for the Sharks. They got themselves a pretty high first rounder and a second rounder this year and a 4th rounder next year. If that trade had been for Toskala, I would've said it was a decent trade. But since they got rid of Mark Bell, I would say it is a very good job by the San Jose GM. This move clears up some major cap space for them and gives them a chance to pursue UFA's. However, the best thing I like about this trade for San Jose is the simple fact that Mark Bell is GONE. In my opinion, he is a bigger distraction (off ice issues) than an asset and no winning franchise would tolerate such a high salary, inconsistent distraction on their team (take the hint, Leaf fans, your team isn't close to being a winner, enjoy another 40 fun years) |
