How old do you have to be shoot a hand gun in a range? |
How old do you have to be shoot a hand gun in a range? It all depends on your states law and the business/range you'll be going to. An indoor range my have different rules then a outdoor range and, how is on staff on that given day or, how busy they may be at the time. If you have completed a firearm safety course and provide proof, there should be no problem. Source(s): Gun collector. I don't think there is a age. I have seen 14 year olds a a handgun range. There is a teenage girl shooting competition matches on ESPN. She's good. Well it would likely be a matter of the range's policy, which would vary. There's no law's relating to who can fire a weapon, just ownership. I would assume that most ranges wouldn't allow young children to fire handguns on the range, but for kids who are older, say 11-12 and up, if they're accompanied by an adult I doubt that there would be any concern over it. Depends on the range. The range I go to, for example has minimum age of 7 to shoot a rifle as long as he/she is accompanied by an adult of legal age. As for handguns, I believe the age is 10. Call your local shooting range for information. My range has the rule, if the parent or guardian is with the child at all times, the child can fire any weapon at any age. If the child is under 21, they cannot fire a pistol without a parent or guardian there, but rifle and shotgun is ok. From my understanding, that's Virginia state law tho. It depends on the range. You must be 21 to own a handgun, so you must be 21 to go to the range alone in most places to shoot. However, you can probably shoot at most ranges with an adult. I shot at a range with I was 18 and rented a pistol. |
