HK USP vs SIg Sauer?
Which one is better for self defense? What is more practical?
You did pick two of the very best to choose from!
Rather than deal with amateur opinions, I have found that the pro's, both commercial and independent, have given a slight edge to the H-K, from tests run by evaluators from such sources as Guns & Ammo, and Gun Tests magazines.
In such tests, the H-K USP models had fewer malfunctions and NO (0) failures when tested against, not only the Sig-Sauer, but Beretta, Springfield, and S&W models, as well.
I've run nearly 5,000 rounds through my H-K USP .45ACP, including Hydra-Shok, Cor-Bon, and several equivilent custom handloads, with 0 stoppages EVER, and it's tolerances haven't measureably changed since I first aquired it.
The only negative factors I've dealt with carrying the USP is it's larger size, but I'm a larger guy and LIKE the more impressive size, and the limited avaiability of carry systems, but I carry concealed in my own unorthodox manner, anyway.
It's mainly personal choice, anyway, so go for it! Source(s): Guns & Ammo mag

I assume you meant "Sig Sauer".Both of these guns are of excellent quality and state of the art technology was used in their design and manufacture. The Germans have a unequaled reputation for making the best firearms in the world. Both are available in 9MM and feature high capacity magazines that hold 15+1 cartridges. The Sig is available in several more popular calibers including .40 S & W and .45 Auto. HK will be offering more calibers soon. The only drawback is the price. The are very expensive, but top of the line. They are BOTH practical and FANTASTIC self-defense weapons!

pure preference. They are both fairly expensive guns, but USPs is the most going past 1000$ sometimes.I haven't handled either, but they are both reliable guns.H&K has a rep for the best guns, but their customer service sucks.Sig Sauers are much more common and come in several sizes,as opposed to normal and compact for the USP.Personally,I would look on Gunbroker for a cheap USP in .45 or .40 S&W.I have seen them as low as 400 on there
James, if you don't know the difference between the nine, forty n forty-five maybe you're not ready to buy a gun?
All three are semi-automatic defensive pistol rounds; the .9mm is the smallest of the three, followed by the .40 with the .45 acp being the biggest n widest of the three. With proper defensive ammo (quality jacketed or semi-jacketed hollow points) all are decent man stoppers. The nine is generally considered less effective than the .45 or even .40 S & W. In reality that depends on the load. A 115 grain .9mm +P or +P+ is a better stopper than a 230 grain full-metal-jacket .45 acp. Finally, the .40 S & W and the .45 acp are generally pretty close power wise with the .45 having an edge due to its greater girth. NONE of this have unmanagable recoil. The larger, heavier pistols will recoil less. And since this is the hunting category, NONE of these are hunting rounds. Next:
Which is better, the H & K or Sig? Which fits your hand better? They are both good, with the Sig 220 (.45 acp) magazines generally being harder (but not impossible) to load.
A friend had a bad experience with his 3 Sigs and even though it was his own fault, Sig failed to help him out. Extremely poor customer relations, which means that for me, it is extremely unlikely that I will ever want to buy a Sig.
Go with the HK i tested both myself and went with the HK in 45acp.Im a 45 man myself.
