Good weapon to carry as a concealed weapon?

I recently got my concealed weapons permit and am looking for a good firearm. Something that is smaller, but still powerful and won't be bothersome to have strapped to my leg or wherever I decide to strap it.

<>First off, do you know if you want a revolver or semi-automatic? Do you have a lot of experience with firearms, or will the next one be your first? There are many brands of firearms, most of them efficient and dependable. However, many of them are too bulky to be easily concealed. If you are a first-timer, I (and my retired cop partner) would recommend a decent snub-nosed (2" or less barrel) revolver in a .38 caliber (Smith, for one, makes an excellent air-weight that is light and small). If you want an auto, shop around for one that feels right. You might like that .45 auto for its firepower, but the bulge will kill your back! There are a number of compact "pocket pistols" (Kel-Tec, for one) that are very light and concealable, but don't have much grip to hang onto and can be a handful to shoot. No matter what, practice, practice, practice! and I recommend a handgun training course for first-timers. (BTW, consider an IWB holster instead of an ankle rig....trying to reach under your pant leg in a hurry can be detrimental to your health!

u got the answer from the right chap

Try a magnum...its a bit heavy but very accurate and powerful(desert eagle...eg)

P90 SMG(automatic) this one has a specility...its single hand held.

Micro UZI(automatic...very light...very fast)

Socom(pistol...serves the US army)

K40(pistol)
List of my off duty carry guns, each has a different purpose for different clothing and weather conditions:
KelTec .380
Kahr 40 covert - 40cal
S&W 640 sc -.357
glock 19 - 9mm

depending on what you carry on duty you may be able to get a smaller version of that and the magazines may enterchange.

We are issued glock 22 and use dept issued glock 27's as secondary weapons, the mags used in the 22 will fit and fuction in the 27.

I dont carry the glock 27 off duty just because of personal perference.
If you want an auto-loader consider the Beretta Tomcat .32 acp. I convinced my department to include .32s in their list of acceptable duty/off-duty carry calibers because they conceal easier than even the .380s. I showed them the ballistics on the better .32 acp defensive rounds (Silvertip, Fiocchi, etc.) compared to standard load .380s and .38 Specials and they concurred. Now I carry off-duty or as backup a stainless steel Tomcat. This gun is easily retained in place by body armor Velcro in a clip holster and is a good last resort, backup weapon. It is also lightweight, surprisingly accurate and dependable.

H
snob nose .38 or 9 mm, personally I like the revolver

Remember a gun that is to large for you to handle is a useless gun
Kel-Tec P-3AT .380 because of MAXIMUM concealability and very light weight, also VERY affordable.
