IRL-Watkins glen? |
Are you glad Indy is back at WGI? Have you even gone there? Who do you think will win this weekend? Who is your favorite driver? Vickio's Deerfield Park-camping I'm a huge AGR fan. I would like to see either Marco or TK win at Watkins Glen. I have never been to a race there, but I would love to. I would actually like to take a year off and travel to every track. I think that would be the greatest thing in the world. I have been by Watkins Glen, but never seen a race there. I do not have a favorite driver. Rather, I am just a big fan of the IndyCar Series. IndyCars are so much better than NASCAR for the quality of racing. Now, onto favorites. I think there are several, but I think the winner will unquestionably have some road-racing experience. Here are five names - I think you winner comes from these five (regardless of where they start in the 18-car field): * Dario Franchitti * Scott Dixon * Marco Andretti * Helio Castroneves * Tony Kanaan Dark Horse Racer this week: Darren Manning, since he loves road courses, and Foyt's team is starting to get momentum. As for the others: Hornish is more oval than road/street, though he has been working on it. D/R Racing: Rice will do OK, Fisher will not (very little road course experience) Patrick should be competitive, but road courses is not her speciality Duno - has already pulled out due to lack of track time Panther Racing: Matsuura was interestingly fast in practice earlier today - could be racy Sunday. Meira - not sure, but I recall him running well on the St. Pete course. Wheldon could surprise, but I don't see him winning Rahal-Lettermen drivers (Sharp/Simmons) will do mediocre, as I don't think their equipment is ready for road course racing. Vision: Scheckter will be the best here - Top 10 maybe. Carpenter's really getting better as the year progresses, but still needs more time on road courses. Foyt IV is more of an oval racer ... will be back in the pack. That's my rundown. Hope this helps. I've narrowed it down to TK, Scott Dixon, Marco, Helio, and Dario (since he's on a hot streak and deserves a championship; the best driver that has never won a CART or IRL title). I have also wanted to take a year off, and see every Indycar race. I figured out how to do it. If I can just win the damn lottery ! But seriously, I would really like to do that !! |
