Why do some people think boxing is barbaric while those people don't have anything to say about martial arts? |
Isn't Martial Arts the same as Boxing? The object of the compettion is to not get hit and make your own attacks. Why isn't that people don't say martial arts is barbaric?. Some people do not like to watch people beating each other up, those people find both boxing and martial arts to be barbaric. But if you know boxing then you understand that underneathe the facade two meatheads pounding each other is a story, these guys have a lot of courage to be in there and they train really hard and boxing if done well can be a sweet science. I think martial arts is much more complex then boxing, it can be fighting with weapons or many other techniques that do not require striking an opponent but can do just as much damage. When I see someone transition from full mount to armbar, it is a beautiful thing. Martial Arts appears fast and skilful while boxing appears to many people simply a slugging match with gloves on I dont think boxing is barbaric i think it is awasome ibut i used to box though UFC aside, the rules of many martial arts matches keep the opponents from striking the face or drawing blood. The point of many martial arts matches is to win points, or demonstrate submission holds, not knock your opponent unconscious as it is in boxing. That being said, I love to watch both sports. :) -boxing, multiple hits to the head. Knock some body unconscious, your the winner! -martal arts, dont have to knock some body out, one can make another quit by some choke or joint lock. - i see boxing as a martial art. I dont hate boxing, i like the two. Boxing is a martial art, people DO say martial arts is barbaric, i mean even TKD has troubles getting into the olympics, many people just dont know what they are talking about well most would consider boxing a martial art, thai boxing has a bad rep for being "barbaric" too and people have been wanting to ban mma in the US saying its human cockfighting. now some other martial arts have little or no sparring so people do not see it as being "barbaric" and some of the traditional martial arts that do practice sparring and competition fighting usually are for points not knockout like olympic style taekwondo and orginal full contact karate were the combatants are often wearing padding and are rested after a point is scored. sometime in other martial arts contact is kept to a minimal such as when i was in capoeira playing in a roda we werent trying to hit the other person full force but get as close as possible to let them know they would have been hit so in other words is a martial art(sport) has knockouts, blood, swelling, cuts, bruises, broken bones with minimal protection people will conside it barbaric. |
