Grappling Supplement?

Which would be a better grappling supplement to Japanese Jujutsu, Hapkido, it's derivative Judo, or just plain wrestling (freestyle)?

Grappling supplement to Japanese Jujutsu?

Well Hapkido isn't really a grappling form, (they do little to no actual ground sparring), so I would go with Judo. It is a little easier to find, unless you are in high school and can join a wrestling team. Ideally both, since you get more submission work with Judo then you do with wrestling.

Brazilian Jujitsu is also great, however a little less predominant then Judo is.

There is nothing for you to gain from Hapkido really, it is very similar to Jujutsu. (basically just the Korean version, with less emphasis on weapons and sword work., and more emphasis on kicking).

So I would go with Judo (very practical application of wrestling and Jujutsu) or if you are in high school, then join up with the wrestling team.

Best of luck to you, feel free to message me if you need any elaboration. Source(s): 20+years Martial Arts.

If you take Japanese Jujitsu, you don't need a grappling supplement, but a striking one. I'd try Boxing. (Jujitsu is already traditional in it's format, and eastern... mix east with west and you understand fights on multiple levels)
